Lot's of 'sort of reformed now' lulz that offset the more serious events. I think 'Rahl sort of fell on the boxes' was my favourite moment in the entire fic, and the thought of how pissed off Rahl would be to hear that :D Also, fancy leaving without any weapons at all. Clearly Zedd was right, they were too complacent. The image of Richard uprooting a tree for a weapon was very funny, and reminiscent of Hercules – he never carried a sword but could always find a sturdy branch to fight with.
There are also serious events – the end made a sort of sense, Zedd thinking they are getting complacent with good reason. But I did think it was a little too cruel a game for him, forcing them to revisit some of their greatest tragedies. The moment in the graveyard at Hartland was incredibly moving and one that stands out as being particularly malicious a place to leave the clue.
Overall it did do plenty of good, not just getting them out of the rut, but meeting up with the key players in each location and seeing for themselves the threat of the Blood of the Fold. An alliance should indeed be sought.
