Day 1, 2, 3, 4+5, 6

7 – Have you ever had a fic change your opinion of a character?

Yes, actually - Jennsen taught me there was another side to Denna in The Eye of the Storm, and I learned both to respect Zedd more and why I don't like him in The Unravelling or the Perils of Powerful Magic.

Also, I've learned a lot from other people's work, most notably Blood from a Stone, by [livejournal.com profile] pristineungift, which was the first fic I read that dealt with Darken Rahl as a real character, rather than book!Darken Rahl, who is pure evil.

Fandom has certainly given me insight into the characters, but most of the time I would describe that as knowing them better rather than seeing them entirely differently.

8 – Do you write OCs? And if so, what do you do to make certain they're not Mary Sues, and if not, explain your thoughts on OCs.

9 – Pairings – For each of the fandoms from day two, what are your three favorite pairings to write?

10 – Pairings – Have you ever gone outside your comfort zone and written a pairing you liked, but found you couldn't write, or a pairing you didn't like, and found you could?

11 – Genre – do you prefer certain genres of fic when you're writing? What kind do you tend to write most?

12 – Have you ever attempted an "adaptation" fic of a favorite book or movie but set in a different fandom?

13 – Do you prefer canon or fanon when you write? Has writing fanfic for a fandom changed the way you see some or even all of the original source material?

14 – Ratings – how high are you comfortable with going? Have you ever written higher? If you're comfortable with NC-17, have you ever been shocked by finding that the story you're writing is G-rated instead?

15 – Warnings – What do you feel it most important to warn for, and what's the strangest thing you've warned for in a fic?

16 – Summaries – Do you like them or hate them? How do you come up with them, if you use them?

17 – Titles – Are they the bane of your existence, or the easiest part of the fic? Also, if you do chaptered fic, do you give each chapter a title, or not?

18 – Where do you get the most inspiration for your fics (aka "bunnies") from?

19 – When you have bunnies, do you sit down and start writing right away, or do you write down the idea for further use?

20 –Do you ever get bunnied from other people's stories or art in the same fandom?

21 – Sequels – Have you ever written a sequel to a fic you wrote, and if so, why, and if not, how do you feel about sequels?

22 – Have you ever participated in a fest or a Big Bang? If so, write about your favorite experience in relation to one. If not, are there any you've thought about doing? And if not, why not?

23 – When you post, where do you post to? Just your journal? Just an archive? Your own personal site?

24 – Betaing – How many betas do you like to use to make sure there aren't any major flaws in your fic? Do you have a Beta horror story or dream story?

25 – Music – Do you listen to music while you write? Do you make playlists to get into a certain "mood" to write your fic? Do you need noise in general? Or do you need it completely quiet?

26 – What is the oddest (or funnest) thing you've had to research for a fic?

27 – Where is your favorite place to write, and do you write by hand or on the computer?

28 – Have you ever collaborated with anyone else, whether writing together, or having an artist work on a piece about your fic?

29 – What is your current project or projects?

30 – Do you have a favorite fic you've written? What makes it your favorite? And don't forget to give us a link!

earned both to respect Zedd more and why I don't like him Seems an odd sort of combo :D
Oh, yes, every discussion at the Palace, let alone the fic, brings up aspects of plot and characters I hadn't thought of. Pris's Blood triology definitely makes Rahl a more real character.

It was weird - I guess I mean, respect Zedd's powers more. Most of the time he doesn't do more than Wizard's Fire, but he always could be doing something as epic as the Spell of Undoing.

I love PP :D

Yes, it's incongruous. First season he's a Wizard of the First Order who mostly just uses Wizard's Fire and occasional 'apparation'. He can change his appearance, heal people, and transform someone into an animal, but we see these infrequently.

Then second season, it's like pokemon; Zedd evolved :D Zedd can use Freezing Spells :D And as young Zedd, he raises up a castle. And of course near the end, the Spell of Undoing.

Perhaps the writers were afraid, like we were discussing about Lots vs GoT that too much powerful magic would take away the drama.

It's funny, but heroes are actually bad for normal people in some ways. As the hero grows and matures and becomes more powerful, frequently not only his or her allies and friends increase in power, but so (for plot reasons) does the evil he or she has to face.

In season 1, Our Heroes are fighting an evil tyrant. If they lose, presumably there'll be some suffering and oppression. In season 2, they're fighting the devil. If they lose, it's the zombie apocalypse. So now their powers can safely increase without destroying the dramatic tension ;D

Thank you!

You know how much I love Suit of Swords. Your modern day depiction of Darken's relationship with Cara, and Denna making sure Cara used birth control really made me think. And I loved the sort of background exploration of Zedd and Shota.

And you wrote Kahlan in a way that made me like her, and I have a hard time liking Kahlan. I have to work at it. &hearts

Thank you :D I'm glad you liked Kahlan - I actually felt I sidelined her a bit. I was having more fun with the Darken/Cara and Denna-Cara, and yes, the Shota/Zedd :D

I missed this cause I've been kind of MIA online - but thanks so much for the mention bb, and I'm so glad that BfS did something for you.

I don't read a lot of fic because I spend so much time modding and writing my own, but I have to say that your Jennsen has opened my eyes to a few things. I never considered her not being able to see the rifts for example - and when you wrote her walking over one, it just sort of blew my mind and my ovaries. I have Jennsen issues, ok.

I'm really excited to go back and read a lot of your fic once I get my outstanding ones wrapped up, especially your award winners. <3 I actually kind of hate Nicci as a character, since we're talking about seeing characters in new ways, so I'm really interested to read your Nicci and see if it changes the way I see her.

And on that note, I have to say that I hated Salindra until I wrote For All That We Have and Are, and she taught me to respect her, and that she isn't despicable, but a survivor, and smart as a whip.

I still have FATWHaA and I hope I get a new understanding of Salindra too because I hated her too.

No rush to read it! Don't feel pressured. And yeah, that story taught me a lot of things I didn't know about Salindra.

I'm happy my Jennsen worked for you :D

And you certainly gave me new insight into Salindra, too ;D
